Mini Mindfulness Exercises: Let's Celebrate Fall!
Welcome to today's mini mindfulness exercise. Let's celebrate fall!
Fall is a time of transition and change. It is an opportunity to take a moment to reflect, and notice the beautiful changes nature blesses us with.
Did you know that walking in nature, listening to nature sounds, or looking at photos of nature can have a calming effect on our body and mind?
With that in mind, let's take a moment today to notice nature around us.
I invite you to take a walk in nature with me, today. You can also close your eyes and follow along in your imagination.
In either case, read the following inspirational thoughts, and take them with you on your walk or in your mind.
On your walk or in your imagination notice the colorful leaves all around you.
Observe the various shades of red and yellow.
Look closer at the leaves. Notice their texture.
Notice how perfectly imperfect they are in color, shape and size. This is what makes each leaf unique and beautiful.
Now, direct your attention to the various fruit some of the trees carry.
Can you see chestnuts, or acorns?
Maybe you can hear them fall to the ground, every once in a while, landing with a soft thump?
Is one close by so you can pick it up?
What does it look like?
What does it feel like?
When you gently shake it, do you hear a sound?
Let's continue our walk!
What does the earth feel like under you feet? Is it hard, or soft? Are you walking on a path, or on grass?
What other things do you notice that you associate with fall?
Take a deep breath in.
Then, breathe out.
Take a moment to notice how you feel.
Thank yourself for taking this mindfulness moment, and for all your good work.
Send a smile to someone who you think needs a little extra love today.
